15th Annual One-Person Show - Framing Concepts - Albuquerque, New Mexico
Show Dates: November 21, 2008 to December 19, 2008

Artist's Statement: Seasonal Variations
We tend to mark the seasons with images symbolic of the most dramatic color changes, such as the turning color of leaves in autumn and the arrival of snow in winter. Spring is marked by the color of flowering trees and bulbs like daffodils and tulips, while summer green is deeper and richer than the first greens we see in the spring. In our desert southwest, the Colorado Plateau and even the arid Rocky Mountains, we notice these changes at different elevations, if they occur at all. The color in many of my paintings is derived from the geology in areas that show little change due to the seasons, or it is derived from the changing light of day which does vary from season to season for those with a keen eye. The paintings in this show were painted throughout the seasons of the year, some with obvious notations, and others with surprisingly little notation of the season in which they were painted. If you have not observed them on your own, my hope is that some of my paintings in this show will lead you to observe the subtle variations in the seasons here in our arid southwest landscape.

All paintings are for sale.
